The Genetic Support Network of Victoria
The GSNV is a newly formed group whose mission is to facilitate a network committed to promoting the interests and well-being of people affected by genetic conditions. The Network promotes education, encourages communication and support and represents the views of individuals and families. The Network aims to ensure that all people with a genetic disorder living in Victoria have appropriate and accurate information and support for their disorder that will enable them to manage the challenges to their health and well-being. The Network believes that collaboration between individuals, families, professionals and genetic services is the essential basis for achieving this goal. The Centre for Developmental Disability Health Victoria
The Centre for Developmental Disability Health Victoria is a joint initiative between the Departments of General Practice at Monash University and the University of Melbourne.  It aims to improve the quality of health care available to people with developmental disabilities throughout Victoria and to promote awareness of health care issues of adults with developmental disabilities amongst medical and other students, medical and other health professionals and service providers thropughout Victoria. The CDDHV is comprised of three main areas: Clinical servcies, Educational programs and training resources, and Research initiatives.

ABA Materials - Early Learning Resources.
They are a small company that produce CD-ROMs with color images that parents print as flash cards to teach children with Down syndrome, learning disabilities and developmental delays.\nThis product is now used by parents and special schools across the USA, UK, Europe and Australia and has proven to be enormously useful to parents in need of resources. Among others, it is used by the Autism Patnership in their USA, Canada and Australia centres.
Australian Breastfeeding Association.
The Australian Breastfeeding Association has much information to help new mothers of babies with Down syndrome.
Companion Card.
The Victorian Government has supported the Companioncard Scheme where a person needing a carer to attend a venue or outing pays for a ticket while the companion enters at no charge. More and more venues are joining the scheme and the card can also be used on many forms of public transport.

EPIC - Education Program for Infants & Children Inc.
EPIC was established in 1976 and is the major provider in Victoria of specialised teaching and therapy for children with intellectual disabilities, especially children with Down syndrome.\nThe main Centre is located on the Bundoora West Campus of RMIT University and is affiliated with the University Department of Psychology and Intellectual Disability Studies. The Interdisciplinary staff team includes teachers, physiotherapists, speech pathologists and psychologists. Visiting teachers support the integration of children enrolled in kindergartens and schools.\nFunding is provided by the genreous support of people sharing a committment to children with intellectual disabilities. The Governemnt provides a small grant.
Extended Families
Extended Families provides support and companionship for families who have a child with a disability. Extended volunteers are enthusiastic, mature-aged people committed to making a difference and are carefully matched with a family who has a child with a disability, fostering the development of a loving and caring 'grandparent' style of relationship.

Services for siblings of children with special needs. Kate Strohm, author of 'Siblings',was instrumental in the foundation of this site. Your Shout - for Adolescents.
This is a web site made by and for adolescents who have a brother or sister with a disability or chronic illness as part of the Siblings Project at the Association for Children with a Disability. Siblings are encouraged to write about their own unique experience in a range of formats, including reviewing media and services that are related to them.  The web site also provides links and pathways to information and support for both recreation and issues related to disability in the family.

UP SYNDROME - A film by Duane Graves.
Up Syndrome (2000) was written, produced, directed and edited by Duane Graves while a student of University of Texas.  The film is about 23 yr old Rene Moreno, his chum, who has Down syndrome. It is funny, poignant and challenging.  82 minutes.  Contains some swearing.  You can see a trailer of the film at the above site and download it.
