VCAL Foundation Course

The VCAL Foundation course is a course that can provide a wide range of skills that can be used in everyday life including basic life skills and employment skills. The VCAL Foundation course is not available at all TAFE institutions, and there are a set of guidelines that often vary depending on the institution. Most institutions require that students must be:

• Minimum of 15 years with a preference to those aged 16 years and older
• Special learning needs associated with intellectual or learning disabilities/difficulties
• The potential and desire for employment
• The ability or potential to travel independently and participate in program activities

There are four main areas that the VCAL Foundation course covers which are:

• Literacy and Numeracy
• Personal Development Skills
• Work Related Skills
• Industry Specific Skills
