The following organisations will be able to assist you in accessing recreation activities for a family member with a disability:

Interchange -Interchange provides respite and social support through a range of programs and services with the help of carefully selected volunteers. Interchange programs include host care, youth groups, school holiday programs, camps, sibling and family activities.

Club 21 - Down Syndrome Victoria's Peer Support Network for adults with Down syndrome.

Arts Access - Arts Access Victoria provides access, engagement and professional development in the arts and cultural life across Victoria for people with a disability.

Rawcus - Rawcus is an ensemble of performers with and without disabilities.

Club Wild - Club Wild runs disability friendly dance parties, training and creative workshops in songwriting, music performance, drumming and dance, hip hop, rapping, DJing, MCing, multimedia and more.

Interact - recreation unlimited - Recreation Unlimited provides a broad range of leisure activities, recreation programs and supported holidays for people with disabilities and people experiencing disadvantage and social exclusion.

Ambleside Tours - Ambleside Tours offer fully escorted and aided theatre parties, day trips and trips within Australia for persons with a wide range of disAbilities.

YMCA Weekend Escape - YMCA Weekend Escapes provides weekend residential camping programs for adults with a disability in modern, accessible facilities.

Kids under Kanvas - Wesley Kids Under Kanvas provides young people (8-18) with a disability the opportunity to participate in recreation & camping activities which develop new skills & self confidence. The program promotes opportunities to share new experiences & make friendships while having a whole lot of fun.

Camp Diversity - Lord Somers Camp - Camp Diversity is a program for young people living with intellectual and physical challenges. The weekend offers a weekend away, full of action, excitement and fun times with other young people.

People outdoors - People Outdoors strives to provide recreation activities to all people with disabilities. This includes various types of programs to enable children, teenagers and adults with disabilities to participate in outdoor adventure programs and weekend camping experiences.

Impact Leisure Services Holiday & Respite Program - Impact Support Services is a not-for-profit organisation that provides a range of support programs such as respite, individual support, and psychosocial rehabilitation for adults with disabilities.

Ozmates - Ozmates Travel specialises in supported luxury coach holiday tours for adults with mild to moderate intellectual disability, throughout Australia & overseas.

Best Buddies - Best Buddies encourage one-to-one friendships between volunteers and people with an intellectual disability. The Buddy pairs get involved in everyday activities together, building mutual respect and understanding.

Extended Families - EFA matches a child who requires some special attention, with a volunteer who fulfills the role of an extended family member where none exist.

Broaden Your Horizons - Broaden Your Horizons is a centralised website that houses resources relating to young people with disabilities. The Leisure Programs section lists contact information for organizations offering school holiday programs, day activities and vacation options. These programs provide education, skill development, leisure and recreational opportunities for young people with special needs while offering respite to their families.

Scope - Scope Community Inclusion & Development works closely with people with a disability, local government, community recreation and sporting providers, and other specialist services to enhance participation in community life.

Companion Card

Click here for information on a Companion Card. This card allows a companion of a person with a significant and permanent disability (like Down syndrome) to attend community venues and activities (ie. Cinemas) and travel on public transport for free as long as they are accompanying a person with a disability.
